Lauren & Phil’s Colony Club Wedding

Lauren and Phil’s wedding was so much fun! They tied the knot on a beautiful, steamy summer day at St. Hyacinth in Detroit. Lauren was absolutely radiant. Here are some of our favorites, enjoy!

Lauren’s dress looked so beautiful backlit, and for the shoe lovers out there, yes those are Manolo Blahnik pumps. :)

I love when Lynn Jovich (Clever Bumblebee Creations) does the flowers, because she makes everything look unique. I love how the groomsmen’s boutonnieres were slightly different from each other.

The flower girl wisely took a nap on the way to the church….such a cutie.

This was our first time photographing a ceremony at St. Hyacinth and it was SUCH a gorgeous church.

Before heading over the the Colony Club, Lauren & Phil made a pit stop at Lafayette Coney Island. I applaud the courage of anyone willing to eat a chili dog in a wedding dress. :)

Then it was on to The Colony Club – one of our favorite places for a reception! As always, it was stunning!

I really liked Lauren & Phil’s unique take on a guestbook. They had a book full of little envelopes and each guest could write on a blank card and put it inside. Simple and striking.

Luke & Lana’s Portraits

Luke & Lana were such a delight! We had so much fun photographing them. Once we took a few photos and broke the ice, they were completely relaxed and gave us great, natural expressions. Andy had them both in stitches the entire time. In fact, I had to eliminate quite a few photos because Lana was laughing so hard she had tears running down her cheeks! And then when the session was over, they didn’t want to leave! They told us they wanted to come back everyday to get their pictures taken – even their mom joked that they should be doing commercials for us. They were pretty awesome. :)

Adeline & Blake’s Portrait

Adeline & Blake were both little whirlwinds of energy! They really kept us on our toes. Our main goal was to get some great portraits of Adeline for her first birthday, and finish up with a few images of Blake and Addy together. Adeline has big, gorgeous blue eyes that really popped with the blue background.

Blake’s post on the right cracks me up….what a little model!

Erin & Chris – Wedding at Pine Lake Country Club

Erin & Chris had a beautiful, elegant wedding at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. Erin, who is obsessed with Disney, and the story of Cinderella, realized she had found her own prince after dragging him to every store at Disneyworld….an adventure he endured without complaint. Their wedding day was full of tender and emotional moments and we were thrilled to capture their day.

Erin’s dad gave such a moving speech – reading from a card Erin had given him. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

The Smith Twins – Newborn Photography

Three years ago, we were there to capture the moment when Bill proposed to Dawn. So we were delighted when they found out they were expecting….with twins! It was so much fun to catch up with them and photograph their sweet new sons, Blake & Chase. Here’s a couple of our favorites!

Elizabeth & Chris – St. Therese of Lisieux Wedding

Hello! I’ve got a pretty big post to share today. Elizabeth and Chris were married last year at St. Therese of Lisieux in Shelby Township, and had their reception at Penna’s. (Check out their engagement session here.) I started the day at the home of Elizabeth’s parents, where all of Elizabeth’s accessories were carefully laid out, including her gorgeous dress (on a custom hanger!) and Badgley Mischka shoes.

These custom hangers are a huge trend right now, and you can find several options on Etsy. The style above, with the wood top is the way to go….the all metal ones tend to sag or warp under the weight of dresses, and without that little notch, some of the dresses won’t stay put on the hanger.

Andy met up with the guys and got some great portraits of Chris and his groomsmen.

The reception decor was really lovely and elegant, with a palette of creams, gold, and bright pops of pink.

Elizabeth & Chris – thank you for giving us the opportunity to document your day. Both of your families were very warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome. We wish you both the best!

TGIF! We are pleased to announce a limited-time offer at the studio. Now until the end of March, our studio sessions are only $50! That’s 50% off our regular price! Here’s the details:

-Only valid on Friday sessions, in our Clawson studio.

- Offer good for baby and child sessions, from 6 months (sitting up) or older. (If you are interested in a newborn session, please contact us.)

- Includes up to two children per session, please add $10 per additional child.

- Includes in-person viewing session and customized display options.

-Sessions are 30-60 minutes long, depending on your child’s attention span and good humor. :)

Be Mine Contest Winner!

Our Be Mine contest wrapped up yesterday and we are pleased to announce that Cassidy came in first place with a mind-boggling 535 votes! Cassidy’s friends and family did a great job getting the word out and bringing in the votes. Well done!

She will be receiving a prize package that includes a portrait sitting, print credit, and the choice of a 16×20 canvas or session album.

Cassidy | Detroit Childrens Photography

Here’s our last contestant in the Be Mine Contest! I can’t believe we’ve already worked our way through all the posts. These sessions were such a blast. The feedback we’ve gotten from these sessions has been tremendous and we appreciate all the comments and new fans we are getting on Facebook. Say hello to Miss Cassidy. She’s three years old, and already has amazing style. She took a real liking to Andy, he had her rolling with laughter by the end of this session. We had so many favorites, it was quite difficult to narrow down the selections for today’s post.

This photo below screams “Three going on Thirteen” to me. I can see why her mom gave her the nickname Sassy Cassie. LOVE the attitude!

Cassidy was the first person we’ve shot on this new fuchsia backdrop. I think it looks pretty rad.
